Houston rapper Chamillionaire is set to perform in Fort Hood, Texas later this week, in the wake of the tragic shooting that took place at the army base last month, claiming the lives of 13 and wounding over 30 American soldiers.

The free event, titled “Fort Hood Community Strong,” was described in a press release as “a day for healing, fun and entertainment,” for the 349,000 plus military associates that reside in the area.

Along with Cham, entertainment will also be provided by actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, comedian Dana Carvey and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. There will also be carnival rides, games and food.

Army psychiatrist Nidel Hasan allegedly gunned down his fellow soldiers on November 5 at the army base. Hasan has since been arrested and charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder as well as 32 counts of attemped premeditated murder.

Fort Hood Community Strong will take place on Friday, December 11 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Hood Stadium.

Cham is currently prepping the release of his third solo studio album, Venom, for a 2010 release. —Max G
