Where at one time fans could reasonably expect to wait 18, 24, even 36 months between efforts from their favorite rapper, the din of the Internet and the paralysis of choices now necessitates a quicker turnaround. So when critics assemble their year-end lists this December, they're going to be monopolized by a few artists. Future will be honored for Beast Mode56 Nights, Dirty Sprite 2 and What a Time To Be Alive; Drake will reap the benefits of that last project, plus If You're Reading This It's Too Late and, probably, Views From the 6. But one artist who's leveraged his talents into two stellar tapes is likely to go overlooked: Young Dolph, who has this year dropped both 16 Zips and High Class Street Music 5, has distinguished himself as perhaps the best rapper in Memphis right now. Today (Oct. 2), the visuals arrive for "Boyz N Da Hood," a standout track from the former. Before the music even cuts in, Dolph spends a minute haggling over biscuits at the chicken spot. But the wait is worth it.
