50 Cent Resurrects Third Eye Rap?

While cruising around in his bulletproof, bomb proof ride with XXL Digital Content Director, Mr. Carl Chery, G-Unit General 50 Cent played some new material from his free digital release War Angel.

During the interview/listening party a line off one of Fif’s song immediately caught my ear. “See clear through my third eye/ there’s gonna be a murda.”

He didn’t just say what I think he did, did he? I haven’t heard a rapper use those two words in… I don’t even know how long.

You see back in the '90s you couldn’t pick up a piece of vinyl without MC Rappity Rap talking about their third eye. Remember Hiero’s 3rd Eye Vision. And here comes 50 resurrecting it from the '90s rap term graveyard. I’m shocked, but I doubt I’m as shocked as these guys.

Back in the day if you were on that third eye ish, you weren’t talking bout busting nobody upside the head. But then again that whole underground/mainstream divide doesn’t exist in hip-hop anymore. It’s just a matter of time before we hear Common spitting some “aggressive content.” Nah I’m buggin.
