The Roots are using their late-night TV gig on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon as a forum to preview their upcoming album, How I Got Over.

Billboard reports that the show’s house band will debut the socially aware title track from their ninth studio LP on tonight’s (June 24) broadcast. The song’s official music video is slated for an early July release.

Back in April, Black Thought spoke with XXLMag.com about the disc, named after a Mahalia Jackson gospel record.“It’s a more celebratory album,” the lead MC said, “the story of triumph and the rise of the brand that is ‘The Roots,’ and how we kept our heads above water consistently for so many years in the game without taking a hiatus, maintaining some love and relevancy for all this time.”

Fans can also catch the band this summer on the Rock The Bells tour, as well as weekly residencies in Atlantic City and New York.
