Lil Wayne showed up in court today (June 23) for a pre-trial hearing, facing drug possession and weapons charges in Yuma County, Arizona, the Associated Press reports.

His attorney says the U.S. Border Patrol has not handed over records requested months ago by the defense. As a result, the judge set another court date for August 11.

According to tmz.com, Wayne’s lawyer claims the bloodhounds used in the bust were not trained adequately, making the seized drugs inadmissible evidence. The judge has not ruled whether the dogs’s training affects the validity of the evidence.

The pending charges stem from Weezy’s January 2008 arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint near Dateland, Arizona. Authorities found marijuana, cocaine, Ecstacy and a .40-caliber pistol on his tour bus.

While he was charged with one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs, and weapons misconduct, the New Orleans rapper pleaded not guilty to all charges. –John Kennedy
