The gun possession charges against Flesh-N-Bone - one of the founding members of Midwestern hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - were officially dropped yesterday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

A representative for the L.A. district attorney’s office told the paper that they couldn’t file the charges against the rapper as planned, once they were made aware of further details in the case. “The defense turned over some information, and we investigated and realized we were unable to proceed with the charges as filed, so the judge dismissed the case,” Jane Robinson explained.

As previously reported, F-N-B, born Stanley Howse, plead not guilty to the charges, claiming the firearms found in the trunk of his car at the time of his arrest, belonged to his wife, a Chicago police officer.

Shephard Kopp, the rapper’s lawyer was overjoyed that the case was dropped. “It vindicates what I’ve said from the start of this case, which is that Mr. Howse did not possess any contraband,” he said. “When you haven’t done anything wrong and you wind up in jail it’s a pretty traumatic event. There’s still a parole hold, and we hope to get that resolved within the next week.”

F-N-B has been in custody since the time of his arrest on April 2 in Santa Clarita, CA. Currently on parole for a separate charge, the rapper was released last July after serving close to 8 years for assault with a deadly weapon. – Elan Mancini
