UPDATE: We got an officially release date for The N.W.A Biopic Straight Outta Compton. Straight Outta Compton will be released on Friday, August 14, 2015. Here's more information on the film from a press release by NBC Universal:

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.

Starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, Straight Outta Compton is directed by F. Gary Gray (FridaySet It OffThe Italian Job).  The drama is produced by original N.W.A. members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, who are joined by fellow producers Matt Alvarez and Tomica Woods-Wright.  Will Packer serves as executive producer of the film alongside Gray.

Three important characters have finally been casted in the much anticipated and slightly delayed N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, according to Billboard sources. Despite dealing with multiple writer changes and over five years of preparation, actors have been confirmed to portray the roles of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E.

Finding the perfect match for these vital members of N.W.A has been a strenuous one, exclusively left in the hands of three people: Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E's widow Tomica Wright. Who else would do a better job searching for someone to play your life than you?

After some heavy lobbying, Ice Cube convinced Universal Pictures and the other two members of the casting team, his 24-year-old son O'Shea Jackson would be perfect for the job. Talk about keeping it all in the family. A not so familiar face, yet classically trained, actor has secured the role of Dr. Dre. Originally set for Michael B. Jordan, the New York's Shakespeare Lab alum beat out the Fruitvale Station star because his current project conflicted with this one.

One of the most debated roles comes with the representation of the late Eazy-E. Jason Mitchell, a man with no acting background and reportedly works in a kitchen, is said to have earned the role of the rapper who passed away in 1995.

The pioneer rap group's biopic, Straight Outta Compton, has no official release date.
