Canadian company WIDEawake Entertainment Group placed the winning bid yesterday (1/15) on West Coast rap label Death Row Records, buying thousands of unreleased material from Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur.

My Fox Los Angeles reports that Suge Knight’s one-time famed imprint was auctioned off in U.S. bankruptcy court in L.A. for $18 million. Knight’s remaining assets, including Snoop and Dre’s “Source Awards,” framed gold and platinum records, Tupac Shakur collectibles and the actual Death Row Records electric chair, will be sold in another auction on January 25 in Fullerton, CA .

The former hip-hop mogul was forced to put the label up for sale after filing for bankruptcy in ’06. Authorities have tried unsuccessfully to put the extensive library on the auction block before, but all prior deals have fell through. As XXLmag.com previously reported, Suge was accused of hiding a portion of Death Row’s catalog from Global Music Group, an indie that tried to buy the label last year. – Elan Mancini
