While T.I. waits to receive the remainder of his own sentencing in March 2009 for federal weapons violations, he appeared in a Cincinnati courtroom today (November 21) to testify about what happened on the night his friend and assistant was shot to death in May 2006.

The Associated Press reports that Tip described the shootout that took place between his entourage and the main suspect, Hosea Thomas during the testimony. T.I. told the jury that he took cover in a van as it was riddled with shots during a wild chase. Tip said that when the van took off he noticed Johnson on the floor with blood running down his face from the bullet hole in his temple. T.I. wasn’t injured, however, three other members were reported to have suffered injuries. Hosea’s brother, Pardon, also testified against him despite his own involvement in the shootout.-Michael Cohen
